Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, President of the IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF) and the Secretary General Mr. Riccardo Fraccari met with Mr. Christophe Dubi, Sport Director of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital.
Dr. Chiulli confirmed his intention to lead ARISF to form a closer working relationship with the IOC and its related organizations and he underlined that ARISF has to play a key role in the effort of helping its member IF’s to be included in the Olympic Program and in finding the way to add new sports.
Chiulli also pointed out that 7 out of the 8 initially shortlisted IF’s for the 2020 Olympic Games were ARISF members and that if there will be changes in the Olympic Program it is fundamental that ARISF is involved in the process.
The ARISF President mentioned that he recently met with the newly elected SportAccord President and ARISF has started to cooperate very closely with SportAccord and intends to proactively participate to the main SportAccord activities.
The ARISF delegation informed the IOC that there will be soon a consultation process between all ARISF members in order to understand how the IOC can help and be more relevant to them.
The IOC will get the results of the consultation and jointly with ARISF will implement all necessary actions for improvement.
At the end of the meeting the ARISF President stated ”ARISF would like to promote and support the IOC Recognized IF’s and coordinate their common interests and goals and ARISF shall become one of the leading sport Associations and key partners of the IOC”.
