From April 28th, Laurent Briel, Director of World University Championships and Kolë Gjeloshaj Director of Educational and Development Services, Chief of Staff to the President are in Vigo for preparatory meetings on the World University Taekwondo Championship and the FISU Forum. Both events will be held in that city in the 2010.
The first joined meeting took place in the University of Vigo. After the welcome words of Jose Ángel Otero Lamas, General Coordinator at the office of the Deputy Mayor and of Mr. Aitor Canibe Sánchez, Head of the University Sport Unit of the Spanish High Council of Sport, the meeting started by a presentation of the city and the university by Mrs. María del Carmen Cabeza, Vice-rector for Students and Culture Extension University of Vigo. She was accompanied by Mr. Michel Nombela Castano, Director of Students and Sports Affairs and Mr. Javier Rial, Coordinator of the Sport Service at the University of Vigo. The director of the International affairs of the city hall, Lucy Watson was also in attendance. As it will be the first time that this young university founded in 1990 is welcoming FISU events, the purposes of the meetings are to inform the organisers on how FISU is cooperating with the local organizing committees, what are the main actions and steps to be fulfilled and to pay a visit to the venues selected for both events. The administrative work will also be coordinated by the Foundation of Vigo for sports, The representative to the meeting of the Foundation was Mrs. Laura Magdalena. Mr. Briel, had the opportunity to meet with Mr. José Maria Pajudas Fernandez, the Secretary-General of the Spanish Taekwondo Federation and Ms. Mercé Barrientos Verela, President of the Galician Taekwondo Federation.
