IJF TAKES PART IN SPORTEL FOR THE FIRST TIME

The International Judo Federation was represented at Sportel Miami, one of the most prestigious events for sport, TV and new media.
The meeting was held in Miami during three days (16-18 March). Exhibitors from all over the world took part in the event, including broadcasters and right holders.
Mr. Horatiu Nicolau, who recently joined IJF for taking care of TV rights, Ms. Manoela Penna, responsible for press affairs for IJF since October 2008, and Mr. Vlad Marinescu, assistant to IJF President, had full days of meetings (20 in total). The main goal was to present the “new judo” with the 2009-2012 competition programs.
With around 10 major events a year, IJF has been working hard to make judo a more “media friendly sport”, changing rules, improving marketing and press campaigns and dealing with some of the biggest media groups in the world to broadcast live combats and also feature highlights after the competitions.
Nex Sportel will be held in Monaco, later in October 2009, and IJF already plans the participation in the European event.
