ITF taekwondo: Ung Chan group (1/3)

Very hard decision for Sportaccord to recognise the right ITF federation. There are three of them with the same name and with the same sport ITF taekwondo rules, but a little bit different then the 4th one recognised one by IOC and Sportaccord WTF - olympic taekwondo.

As having been well known to the world, the 17th ITF Taekwon-Do World Championship took place in Pyongyang, DPR Korea on 6-12 Sep. this year with over 1,000 athletes from more than 80 countries across the world in attendance.
Through this Championship, the ITF has fully demonstrated its might and strength to the world and the participants have fully showed their skills and abilities as well.
During the Championship the 21st ITF Congress was held on the 7th of September and the major decisions were unanimously reached at the Congress for making the ITF stronger and more dynamic in a short time and the ITF Executive Board members except for the President were newly elected. The term of the President is a six-year period and was decided at the 19th Congress held in Russia during October of 2009.
The Sport Accord President Mr. Hein Verbruggen and Mrs. Choi Chun Hi, the Widow of late Gen. Choi Hong Hi, attended the Championships. Their presence was felt by all and was definitely a great boost of encouragement to the entire membership.
The ITF also enjoyed the corporate sponsorship from the KORYOLINK and ORASCOM and would never forget the tremendous contributions made by them. The entire ITF sincerely looks forward to continuously working with them in the future.
On this occasion, we would like to offer out heartfelt thanks to the participants including the athletes, umpires, officials, volunteers, journalists and sponsors who played the KEY ROLES in producing the due success of this Championship!
Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Hein Verbruggen, the President of Sport Accord, and Mrs. Choi Chun Hi, the Widow of late Gen. Choi Hong Hi, who stayed with us during the Championship!
